How to create a Flash game (FAQ)
Q: Can anyone make a Flash game?
A: Flash isn’t the easiest utility to use. There are a lot of tutorials out there though. If you have the time and dedication to learning I will show you what you need to have and what you should look up.
Q: What do I need to get started?
A: In order to get started you must have a flash tool of some kind. This is where many of you will run into a snag. For the easiest and most in depth I recommend one of the Adobe Flash CS 4 or 5. Anything else will work however they will not give you the best results and you will not be able to find as many step by step tutorials for them. Not everyone wants to take an entire flash class to get started on a side project, so by getting what everyone else is using you can follow the tutorials better and learn the basics much faster and No! I can not give you Adobe. Get it like the rest of us had to.
Q: Is there anything that can show me how?
A: Once you have your flash creator you can look up tutorials. Many of the tutorials will offer you a source code that you can look over and modify to help you learn that way you aren’t starting from scratch. If this really is just a side project for you then don’t try to make a work of art. For that you will need to go to school like everyone else. Flash creators that work for Armor games and Kongregate all have game creator degrees or someone who can sit down with them and teach them step by step. If you think you are good enough to do the advanced games then you are probably in the wrong tutorial FAQ.
Q: What are some of you favorite tutorials?
A: There are a few that I think you will get the most of. They are all different genres and this is a direct name so you should find them immediately:
Flash Racing Game Tutorial (Racing)
Learn how to make a Flash game within minutes with no prior scripting knowledge! (Flash Data)
Balloon Shooter (Bloons-ish)
Guess Next (Highscores)
These tutorials are the easiest and most beginner friendly on the web. If you don’t find them your speed then you can probably take a night course at a nearby community college that will help you with the programming issues.
Still bored? Watch TV. Don’t have TV? Check out some satellite dish providers.

Flash is so nasty. Why anyone uses it at all is beyond me.
